As the year is growing to a close, it is a good time to ponder the year. We have worked hard this year and the company has undergone some large changes. We would like to share some of the things that got us excited in 2014, plus what we are looking forward to in 2015.
We built our first Google Glass App!
2014 was the year that we really diversified the business. In 2013 we added new marketing channels, but it was 2014 when we really expanded. This including developing our own in house SEO methodology, offering Google certified PPC management and joining the Google Partners Program. We really started pushing apps too, which we have had great success with. We have built a number of cool apps in 2014 but our favourite was our Google Glass app.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our business we can’t discuss the exact details of the app as we white label. This means that we offer our specialist services on behalf of other agencies which we have partnered with. What we can tell you, is that it is an augmented reality app for the Google Glass which will be used for educational purposes.
Google Glass is a new technology and the true consumer version is not currently available. When developing for a new platform like this, you can run into a number of unforeseen problems. For example, many of the recommended development specs, like optimum resolution are not correct. We were glad to be a part of the development process that means that future developers will not run into this issue.
Expanding our team
2014 has seen a number of editions to the Mobius Empire. Jason has joined our apprenticeship programme with great success and quickly became a valuable member of the team. Axel has joined the ranks of the developers too, working as a graduate PHP developer. The company has been restructured, and saw Sacha move into a new role as Strategic Director. We plan on expanding the team even further in January, with new development and marketing staff.
The company relocated to Beverley in September. We have fond memories of Mobius Towers, but it was time to move. Space was fast becoming an issue. Our new offices boast a fresher rural atmosphere, improved parking, modern décor and greater floor space.
Expansion into new industries
We have always had a diverse client portfolio, but 2014 saw that boom. We have been working expansively with clients in many sectors. Including projects in retail, eCommerce, power & renewables, social networks, fitness & health and private healthcare & medical.
We also Purchased our very first company vehicle!
What does the future hold?
Quite simply, we hope to produce more of the same. We want to continue to grow our team of developers in the new year. We already have some exciting editions in mind but we can’t talk about those just yet. We want to work on more interesting, diverse projects and would love to continue developing for new technologies. Wearable technology is just starting to really take off with innovations like Google Glass, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear and the Apple iWatch. Developing for the tech falls in line with our goals to involve our portfolio of apps.
