Google has recently released a new Panda update. There has been some speculation about when this new Panda 4.0 update was coming. Google’s head of webspam, Matt Cutts announced this on his Twitter account.
Google is rolling out our Panda 4.0 update starting today.

What do we know?
Google stopped announcing its monthly Panda data refreshes some time ago, so we know that this is a more serious update. Search Engine Land has a handy list of past Panda updates here. Many are speculating that this update is the new ‘softer’ Panda. One of Panda’s criticisms was that it was too harsh on smaller businesses and there have been rumours for some time that Google would be releasing a softer, more measured Panda update.
What have we seen?
Personally, we have seen many of our eCommerce client’s, especially those using Magento CMS, rankings see an increase in rankings and traffic. Overall, smaller businesses seem to have been positively effected. Also, clients using WordPress CMS have seen an uplift in traffic of around 20%.
Advice from Mobius
Our view remains the same. Content is king. You should focus on developing content that users will want to see and share. A good why to measure this is by simply asking yourself, “Would I want to share this content with my friends?” If the answer is no, then you need to rethink it. If it is yes, you may be on to a winner.
