Has Google Glass been Scrapped?
Google announced on Thursday that the Google Glass project has now “graduated” from Google[x] labs and has entered “open beta”.
Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, Glass is not being scrapped. It’s the opposite, in fact – Glass is moving forward and we are that much closer to seeing it in the consumer market.
The Explorer program – through which developers could purchase the Glass headwear for a little over £1000 to play around and begin developing – is closing so that the tech giant can focus on the next stage, including creating a dedicated team at Google led by Tony Fadell, a previous product creator at Apple.
So if you’re one of the early investors in Glass like us, don’t worry – your work has not been for naught. Instead, be as thrilled as we are that soon we’ll be able to see this exciting technology in stores, and look forward to the awesome apps and tools that will be coming along with it.
